Since 1812, Laurent-Perrier's estates have been neither in Reims or Epernay, but in the village of Tours-sur-Marne, at the meeting ground of three famous champagne vineyards: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. Created by a barrel maker, enlarged by a wine maker and developed by a daring widow, who exported the label to the United States and invented the "Grand Vin Sans Sucre" (champagne without "dosage" of sugar, the ancestor of today's Ultra Brut), Laurent-Perrier was given a rebirth by another woman, Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, in 1939.

From the 100th place in the league table of Champagne producers in the 1950s, Laurent-Perrier has risen to be the fourth leading brand of Champagne thanks to the drive of one man. This success in brand development, unparalleled in Champagne, has been made possible by the exceptional enterprising spirit of Bernard de Nonancourt.

Laurent-Perrier produces wines that combine pleasure and know-how. It was the first to introduce a high percentage of Chardonnay in the blend of its Brut Champagne. The resulting elegance and freshness contributed much to the rise in Champagne's popularity as a before-dinner drink. Cuvée Rosé Brut, Cuvée Grand Siècle and Ultra Brut are other examples of unique products based on innovative blending and true creations.

Since 1965, Laurent-Perrier has given yearly awards to distinguished persons who incarnate the lasting values of our era in fields as diverse as art, science and humanitarian action. Recipients have included Commander Cousteau, Lord Mountbatten, Mstislav Rostropovitch, Eunice Kennedy Sergeant-Shriver Raymond Devos, Lino Ventura, Barbara Hendricks, Abbé Pierre, Professor Luc Montagnier, Jean-François Deniau, Marcel Carné, Claudie André-Deshayes, William Christie, Charles Trénet and, in 1999, Hugues Gall.
